The Great British Sewing Bee - Crafty Blog Tour

Recently I was contacted by Crafty magazine to ask if I would like to take part in a book blog tour featuring The Great British Sewing Bee book that accompanies the new BBC program which started last week. When I saw the clips for this new program I was really excited as this is the kind of program that really appeals to me and I do love to sew!

The styling of the book is really beautiful and really inspires you to try your hand at any of the projects featured. I love that one of the patterns is included at the back of the book, so no need for printing anything off, you can get started straight away! The rest of the patterns are clearly featured throughout the book so you can scale up and use anytime.

One project I really want to try is the bow tie above... maybe in a pretty pattern to make it a little more femine!

The book covers a whole range of projects that will suit any keen sewer, with any ability. The section at the beginning of the book which covers the basic skills you would need to make any of the projects is really well written so makes them really easy to understand. Also includes a glossary at the end to check any technical spec you are unsure of.

The projects vary, it doesn't just include garments. It also features a floor cushion, laundry bag, basic curtains and a roman blind which I will be trying my hand at when I move into my new house.

It's great that parts of the book also cover pieces that you could use to embellish already existing items of your wardrobe like the collar above. I think this book will be so handy when I come round to making some garments for the summer!!! Come on summer. Please.

Check out Teasemade's post yesterday on the book, shes doing a giveaway! ... Also tomorrow Handmade Jane will be featuring the book.
Thank you Crafty magazine for asking me to take part in the book blog tour!
